INTEGRAL APPROACH IN CONTEXTS OF SOCIAL VULNERABILITY. PSYCHIC SUFFERING AND BEHIND AT SCHOOL IN CHILDREN AFFECTED BY THE CRISIS

Abstract

The multi-problem presented by children living in poverty cannot be approached from a single perspective. The social circumstances of our political-social system, the liquid modernity, as represented by Zigmunt Bauman, the school system, the situation of continuous scarcity in which one in three children in Spain find themselves, according to Save the Children report, cause situations of lack of protection in childhood that result in serious suffering. The situation of continuous stress that occurs in these families, causes children to lower their academic performance, have difficulties in self-control and other skills not only related to their educational projection, but social and vital. The greater risk of being in a situation of unprotected, of living traumatic situations generates great psychological suffering and a negative self-concept accompanied by a wide and varied symptomatology. The aim of this  table is to show inclusive models and innovative experiences in addressing the problems presented by these children in order to take care of their needs, reduce their suffering and enhance their resources. To this end, we will count on a bibliographical review of the literature on filioparental violence that will suggest the need for integrating models for its approach, we will count on a proposal for a model centred on the child and his or her family for users at risk of social exclusion, which goes beyond work by disciplines to focus on support processes, will show a group intervention experience with mothers and children who have lived through situations of gender violence and will present an intervention from the psychomotor perspective in a child at psychosocial risk.

Silvia Diana Jens is a psychologist specializing in Psychotherapy, Clinical and Health Europsy and a Health Psychologist. Since 2004, she has been the coordinator of the Therapeutic Care Program of Cooperative Social Networks. She implements programmes for people at risk of social exclusion. At the training level, she gives seminars related to psychology and social intervention to educators, psychologists and social workers. She also teaches subjects related to the psychology of the elderly in courses of Social and Health Care Technician agreed with the Women’s Institute. At present, she is tutoring psychology students from the University of Comillas.
