Nowadays child and adolescent therapists are facing with several challenges to solve the problems of patients who come to clinics, which are related to the fields of knowledge on evaluation, diagnosis and intervention. It is important that the processes in each of these areas are supported by a specific framework that allows a comprehensive, timely and patient-friendly understanding of the case. In Mexico, the demand for psychological care that parents perform for their children is more and more recurrent. A request that comes from needs in different areas such as academic, family, social or a combination of all. Based on the above, the following works by residents of the Master's Degree in Child Psychotherapy of the Faculty of Psychology of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) will be presented. They were conducted in two training scenarios; one located in Mexico City: The Community Center "Dr. Julián Mac Gregor and Sánchez Navarro", and the Center for Psychological Services "Dr. Guillermo Dávila". The prevalences of children's problems in one of these centers, located in the south of Mexico City, are: behavior problems 35%, learning problems 20%, parents divorce 11%, low self-esteem 7%, poor performance school 7%, and enuresis 4%. Therefore, the aim of this symposium is to analyze, through a methodology of mixed research and clinical case studies, the procedure to establish a differential diagnosis of socio-affective problems that will guide the decision making for an adequate intervention and analyze their efficacy.
