Adolescence is a vital period characterized by the initiation of substance use, as well as the first drug use consequences. Because of specific characteristics of this population group, a psychological intervention approach adapted to their needs is necessary. In this context, the Community Enhancement Approach for Adolescents offers several strategies aimed at addressing drugs consumption, as well as the academic, family and social problems that young people may experience. From the community approach, adolescents are trainned in communication skills, coping, problem solving and control anger, among others, in order to provide them the necessary tools to find a source of reinforcement in their community context that contributes to the decrease and disappearance of consumption of drugs and its consequences. All these will be presented from a motivational and reinforcing approach. This applied session will review some of the main intervention strategies of this approach with adolescents, using an applied and interactive perspective.
