Internet interventions for depression and anxiety in children and adolescents: Opportunities and challenges

The Internet offers several new ways of developing, implementing and disseminating evidence-based interventions for depression and anxiety in children and adolescents. In the past decade a considerable number of treatments have been developed and several randomized controlled trials have been conducted, showing that these interventions may be effective. The challenge for the near future is to examine how these treatments can be integrated in mental health care. In this presentation an overview will be given of the research in this field and the opportunities for implementing Internet-based interventions in routine care, as well as an overview of the technological changes and challenges that lie ahead.
