CHILDREN’S CLINICAL NEUROLOGY: NEW LINES OF EVALUATION AND INTERVENTION BASED ON THIRD-GENERATION PSYCHOLOGICAL THERAPIES

Abstract

In this symposium we present works with therapeutic novelties that have arisen in the children and young field due to the influence that «third-generation therapies» (TGT) for the evaluation and intervention to apply in the neurodevelopment area. Currently, the TGT can provide a better understanding of how the brain works. On For the clinical psychologist, the strategies of these new therapies can be useful as therapeutic resources complementary to traditional psychological techniques. In this line we highlight two interesting features in which the TGT affect: one is the early intervention in behavior problems in children to prevent the aggravation of them in the future, and another, is to create in the clinical context a very active participation of the child, adolescent or family receiving the therapy. From this perspective, the studies we will present incorporate the contributions of neuropsychology as a comprehensive model that complements the method of evaluation and traditional clinical psychological intervention. From the field of research and clinical practice, these studies analyze aspects such as: biomedical indicators for the detection during neurodevelopment of children with ASD, parental stress and its relationship with neuropsychological measures for detection in preschool children with ADHD, evaluation and neuroeducational intervention in children with neurodevelopmental disorders and the application of a Parent-Child Interaction Therapy program (PCIT) in behavior problem.
