Universal Monitoring of Adolescents’ Flourishing Mental Wellness

The importance of monitoring adolescents’ mental wellness is now as apparent as ever. I will describe a field-tested approach for assessing and monitoring students’ social-emotional wellness based on a study of more than 100,000 students. Content includes the Social Emotional Health Surveys and Social Emotional Distress Scale, developed/validated with/for California’s diverse students, and cross-validated in China, Korea, Japan, Mexico, Turkey, United Kingdom, Netherlands, and other countries. I will provide information about how schools integrate screening/monitoring within a comprehensive mental wellness program (see: www.covitalityucsb.info and Proyecto CoVitalidad).
