Differential behavioral and neuropsychological patterns in ADHD and slow cognitive tempo

This symposium presents studies on behavioural and neuropsychological patterns, with comorbidity effects, associated with Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder and, in addition, considering in some cases the presence or absence of Slow Cognitive Tempo (SLT). The topics to be addressed will be the relationship between the comorbid symptoms of ADHD and electrical activity recorded by EEG, the analysis of sleep problems in the ADHD population, clinical and neuropsychological characteristics in community samples of ADHD (usually we have a lot of data in experimental samples, but not so much in community) and, finally, the influence of high scores in ADHD in the greater presence or not of comorbid symptomatology. The final objective is to present and debate the special and differential characteristics of ADHD in the presence of another symptomatology and the differentiating effect that the added presence of Slow Cognitive Tempo may suppose.

Mateu Servera is a Doctor in Psychology and a Specialist Psychologist in Clinical Psychology. He has been a full professor at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) since 1993, and a researcher at the University Institute for Research in Health Sciences (IUNICS) since 2002. His main line of research focuses on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Slow Cognitive Tempo. He has been principal investigator or investigator in 12 competitive research projects, 4 research contracts and is author or co-author of more than 30 articles in scientific journals, more than 25 participations in books, book chapters, monographs or scientific documents and more than 70 participations in congresses or scientific meetings.
