University Care Complex of Palencia, SpainNew impulsivity treatments in infant-juvenile clinical population
Impulsivity is a trait/dimension of the human being that does not always have a negative or unproductive connotation. However, the difficulties related to the regulation of impulsivity are a frequent reality in the child and adolescent population attended to in mental health units, and their treatment is a professional challenge. In the clinical context, impulsivity can be understood as a symptom, clinical disorder or stable trait over time and is linked to various biological, educational, environmental, psychosocial or family factors. There are differentiated therapeutic interventions with evidence of treatment efficacy. Difficulties in impulse control are included in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, addictions without substance or in self-injuries in adolescence. The presentation will try to offer a brief and updated response to the treatment of these clinical entities, focusing on the differential intervention on impulsivity.
